Obituary

Services for Rodney Sherwood Crosslin, Sr., age 67, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Pine Forest United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Joel Dent and Rev. Steve Patton will officiate. Mr. Crosslin was a retired Veteran of the United States Army. He also retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center where he worked for many years as a supply officer. He was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and the Dublin Country Club. Mr. Crosslin also attended Jekyll Island United Methodist Church and was an Eagle Scout and an Order of the Arrow with Boy Scouts. He started the first Cub Scout Pack for the Sparta United Methodist Church in Sparta, NJ and was a former Cub Master, leading the new Pack to win first place in the parade on Armed Forces Day at the Army Post at Picatinny Arsenal, in Dover, NJ. Rod had many interests. In his earlier years, he worked with the Special Olympics at the University of Maryland. He mentored new Army Recruits from West Point visiting at Picatinny Arsenal. He loved the Army and his family. He was very proud of his sons and always bragged about them. Mr. Crosslin was preceded in death by his father, William P. Crosslin and by his mother, Lena Pickle Crosslin. He passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Wert Crosslin of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney S. and (J.J.) Crosslin of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, R. Scott and (Roseanne) Crosslin of Dublin; grandson, R. Scott Crosslin, Jr. of Dublin; step-mom, Velma Crosslin of LaPorte, IN; three brothers, William (Rhonda) Crosslin, Jerry (Mary) Crosslin and Ronald Crosslin, all of LaPorte, IN; sister, Lori (Shorty) Fields of LaPorte, IN; two brothers-in-law, Rev. David (Elaine) Pierce of Mt. Gretna, PA and Ronald H. Wert of Annville, PA; niece, Debra Pierce of Cincinnati, OH; nephew, Andrew (Kim) Pierce of Orlando, FL and two great-nephews, Ryan and Ethan Pierce of Orlando, FL. Pallbearers will be James "Tony" Johnson, Jason Kemp, Andy Price, Mark Poole, Brett Stevens, Matt Jones, Travis "T.J." Harden and Richard Scott. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
