Obituary

Roy Edward Parkerson, age 86, of Cadwell, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Greg Lowery and Rev. Mark Sweat will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Rob Powell, Sammy Martin, Ray Thomas, Rickey Hobbs, Bobby Wood, David Fifer, David Moye and Greg Burch. Mr. Parkerson was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 55 years. He retired from Forstmann after 41 years of service and was also a farmer. Roy considered his family as one of his greatest life achievements, along with becoming a three time All-State athlete in High School, excelling in the sports of basketball and football. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Sanders Parkerson, and siblings, Clinton Parkerson (Ester), Cordie Parkerson (Kathleen), Caulion Parkerson, Marvin Parkerson (Gladys), Bealer Parkerson, Marion Parkerson (Edith), Talmadge Parkerson (Juanell), Kathelee Peacock (Audrey), Clyde Mullis (Steve), and Frankie Bond. Survivors include his wife, Julia Parkerson, of Cadwell; daughters, Kay Calhoun (Jerry), of Rentz and Debbie Wood, of Dublin; grandsons, Eric Wood (Morgan), and Todd Calhoun (Wanda), both of Dublin; granddaughters, Sylvia Welch (Tim), of Dublin and Martina Suttles (Joe), of Cadwell; former son-in-law, Bobby Wood, of Cadwell; great-grandchildren, Colby Butler, Parker Wood, Eli Suttles, Finn Suttles, Tyler Wood, Bodhi Welch, Jordan Welch, Logan Calhoun, and Ryan Lumas; sisters-in-law, Margaret Parkerson, of Eastman and Molly Sue Parkerson, of Chauncey; brother-in-law, Wilbur Bond, of Warner Robins, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Serenity Hospice and all of the special caregivers.
