Rubye Hill Hilliard, age 98 of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Dublin, GA. She was born on January 1, 1917, in Cornelia, Georgia, daughter of Walter D. and Naomi Smith Hill. She moved to Dublin in 1949 and worked at the Veterans Administration hospital for 35 years as a dental assistant and in the hospital library. Mrs. Hilliard was a long time member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many of the children in the church. She was well known for her many years of greeting card ministry, sending hundreds of cards each year to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert E. "Ed" Hilliard. Survivors include her son, Robert E. Hilliard, Jr. and his wife Janet, three grandsons, Bryan Sykes and his wife Joy, Brandon Sykes and his wife Jayde, and Eric Hilliard, six great grandchildren, a sister, Edna Crocker of Demorest, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Street Baptist Church Thursday from 11:00 AM with the services to follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
