Rubye Veal Holland, age 93 of Brewton, passed away on Saturday, August 02, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Griffin Thompson, Rev. Barbara Nelson, Mr. Ralph Veal and Rev. James Veal will officiate. Mrs. Holland was a homemaker and the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lillie Waller Veal. She was a member of Brewton United Methodist Church for 68 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis V. Holland;grandson, Sean Freeman; sisters, Kate Ivey, Blanche Powell, Hazel Kyzer, Ruth Moorman, Eloise Ogburn and brothers, Bo Veal, Harry Veal and Jim Veal. Survivors include her daughter, Sallie Holland (Steve) Freeman of Woodstock, GA; son, Billy (Nancy) Holland of Tifton, GA; sister, Emmie Bray of Wrightsville; brother, Toby Veal of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Scott (Grace) Freeman, Will Freeman, and Grace Holland; great-grandson, Joshua Freeman and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Hugh Veal, Van Moorman, Matthew Miller, Anthony Parker, David Holland and Brad Kyzer. Honorary pallbearers will be T.L. and Doris Mimbs, Doyle and Mildred Mimbs, William and Elaine Hart, Peggy Maddox, Rev. Lamar Rabun and Shirley Andrews McWilliams. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:30PM until 8:30PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
