S. Mabon S. Strickland, age 92 of Dublin, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Evergreen United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs North Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Jack Key and Rev. Larry Giles will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Strickland was born in Laurens County to the late Samuel Franklin Scarborough and the late Mabon S. Perry Dean. She was a homemaker and member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. She loved working with her flowers and was known for helping others in need. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Strickland, Jr. and brother, Frank Scarborough. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Ann Strickland Thomas (Jimmy) of Dublin; sons, S. Wayne Strickland (Virginia) and Rodney L. Strickland (Martha Ann), both of Dublin; grandchildren, Preston Thomas, Penelope Thomas Wilson (Tommy), Mark W. Strickland (Angela), Amanda Strickland Kelly (James T.), Stacie S. Fields (Gary L., II), all of Dublin and Rhonda S. Fetner (Travis) of St. Johns, FL; great-grandchildren, Haley Farwell (John), Dusty Thomas (Carol), John Wilson, Josh Strickland, Jake Strickland, Caleb Ivey, Sean Kelly, Sarah Kelly, Autumn Fields, Spencer Fields, Brad Fetner, Brent Fetner, Allen Wilson and James Wilson (Donna); brother, Wallace Dean of Dublin; four sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Josh Strickland, Jake Strickland, Caleb Ivey, Mark Strickland, Preston Thomas Sean Kelly, Brad Fetner, John Wilson, and Spencer Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Sutton, Charles Turbeville, Eddie Strickland, Mike Strickland, Danny Strickland, Ray Jones, Ned Perry, Rob Dean and David Dean. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Evergreen United Methodist Church, 1495 Old Toomsboro Rd., Dublin, GA 31021. The family will be gathering at the home of Wayne and Virginia Strickland.
