Services for Samuel D. Braswell, Jr., age 85, of Rentz, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Mike Peacock, Rev. Grady Mimbs, and Jeff Handley will officiate. Mr. Braswell died Friday, August 24, 2012. Mr. Braswell, born and raised in Rentz, was the son of the late Samuel Dawson Braswell, Sr. and the late Emmie K. Fann Braswell. He was a U S Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Braswell, a carpenter by trade, was a member of Carpenters Local, Macon. He retired from Plant Scherer, Georgia Power Plant as a shop foreman. He was a member of Central Drive Baptist Church, but attended Antioch Baptist Church and Baker Baptist Church. Mr. Braswell was an avid hunter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his brother, Preston Braswell; sisters, Lois Register, and Frances Woodard; and granddaughter, Melissa Sanker. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lord Braswell, of Rentz; children, Debbie Paulos, of Augusta, and Mike (Joan) Braswell, of Kinston, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Lewis, of Augusta, and Jeffery Braswell, of Kinston, NC; sister, Bernice Alligood, of Dublin; and brother, Marvin Braswell, of Rentz. Fred Braswell, Sammy Braswell, Billy Alligood, Jimmy Alligood, Matt Lewis, Leonard Bolyard, Craig Lord, and Brad Lord will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
