Services for Samuel Glynn Lord, age 73, of Montrose, will be held at Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church, Hwy 26 in Cochran, on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Elder Ricky Harcrow, Elder Sam Bryant and Elder Raybon Lord will officiate. Mr. Lord was born in Laurens County to the late, Joseph R. and Molcie Smith Lord. He was a 1956 graduate of Dexter High School and attended Abraham Baldwin College. He farmed for several years before becoming owner and operator of Lord's Tree Service, Inc., serving the southeast for over 35 years. Mr. Lord was a member of Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church where he served as clerk and deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lord was preceded in death by two brothers, Delacy Lord and Russell Lord, both of Dudley, and brother-in-law, D.J. Burch of Helena. Sam passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia following an extended illness. Survivors include his wife, Betty Thompson Lord of Montrose; daughter, Bonnie Lord of Montrose; son, Rodney Lord of Montrose; grandchildren, Laurel (Eric) Grimes and Lindy (Spence) Lovett, both of Dudley; Lucinda Lumley and Molly Lord, both of Augusta and Sarah Lord of Montrose; great-grandchildren, Lily and Wesley Lovett and Brenna Grimes, all of Dudley; brother, Marshall R. (Trudy) Lord of Dudley; two sisters, Imogene (John) Doyle of Ocala, FL and Marjorie Burch of Helena; sister-in-law, Carolyn Lord of Dudley as well as, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Thomas Hilton, G.W. Young, John Jiles, Marvin Howard, Bud Christian and Al Starley. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Huddleston, Steve Young, Ricky Lord, Bob Green, Wayne Howard, Kenny Register, Hubert Fulford, Autrey Howard, N.L. Yates, Clift Crews, Ed Harpe, Roger Lord, David Howard, Roy Manley, Dr. Harold Harrison, Bob Fussell, Mitchell Goss, Angel Herrera, Jordan Smith, David Hignight, Houston Bryant, Billy Brown, Mickey Byrnes, Bill Adams, Alan Adams, Charlie Smith, Glenn Hodges and Britt Parker. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
