Harlon Parmer (Skip) Spivey, age 87, of Dublin, died on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Serenity Place surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Spivey was born in Monroe County, Mississippi, on October 21, 1929. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Mississippi and from the Draughon's Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating, Skip joined the United States Army, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He later transferred to Dublin and retired after 38 years of service with the company

Mr. Spivey was a lifelong Presbyterian and member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He was an adventurer at heart and loved telling good stories. He had a love of camping, bicycling, sailing and motorcycling. He thought it was very important to give back to the community in which he lived. This love was shown through his volunteer work with the Salvation Army and as a Rotarian.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Harlon and Ruby Hattaway Spivey, and grandson, Stephen Jason Rudisill.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane Spivey, of Dublin; daughters, Lottie S. Kay (Bill), of Winston Salem, NC, and Debra S. Pace (Mike), of Aberdeen, NC; granddaughter, Jenny Lee McCrimmon, of Aberdeen, NC, and beloved pet, Rusty.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church. Rev. W. Mark George will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday following the service at the church.
