Solomon Waitus Bradley, age 89, passed away on February 23, 2022. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26 from 2:00 to 3:00 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Bradley at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home in (7200 Hodgson Memorial Dr, Savannah, GA 31406) Savannah, Georgia on March 1, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM.
Mr. Bradley served in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea; where he was injured during his time there as part of an artillery squad. He worked for thirteen years as a machinist, until his injury prevented him to continue. He also worked in real estate and owned many properties throughout Savannah. He was a man of many talents, such as carpentry, mechanics, and he was buying and flipping houses before the term was coined. He owned a furniture store, a seafood restaurant, and the 13 Colony Kitchen in Savannah. He also opened and owned East Dublin Recycling from 2003 until 2015. Mr. Bradley collected cars as a hobby and owned several antique cars. He attended New Bethel Church. He and Betty Butler Bradley were married for 42 years. He was the best father figure to his nieces and nephews. In fact, his nieces' suitors asked Mr. Bradley for permission to marry his nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick Alexander and Lula Mae Bradley; daughter, Maria Bradley Kelly; brother, James Howell Bradley; sisters, Freddie Bradley Warren and Ann Bradley Ross; and grandparents, Beulah Partin and Enoch New.
Mr. Bradley was survived in life by his wife, Betty Butler Bradley; daughters, Tina (Scott) Bradley Edge, of Savannah, Linda (Steve) Bradley Cochran, of Pawley Island, South Carolina, Joni Bradley Mikkelson, of Selena California; son, Michael DeMuro; grandsons, Matthew Ray Willis, Frank Kelly Jr., and Joshua DeMuro; nieces, Judy Bradley Graham and Barbara Bradley Iler; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Serenity Hospice and/or Disabled Americans Vets (D.A.V.).
