Mrs. Sybil Shepard Harper, 94, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at Dexter Baptist Church, in Dexter, Georgia. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Mrs. Harper was born in Dexter, GA, May 6, 1920 to the late Raymond and Priscilla Mullis Shepard. She was a member of Dexter Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She had a distinguished career as an educator at Peabody in Milledgeville. Mrs. Harper was an exemplar mother and grandmother. She loved Georgia history, animals, flowers, and Southern meals. She attended Georgia Southern, The University of Georgia, and Mercer. Mrs. Harper is preceded by husband James M. Harper. Survivors include: Daughter; Jamie Simpson and Sons, Mike and Jim Harper; Grandchildren; Michelle, Paige, and Bert; Leigh; Matthew, Jake, and Jamie; Great grandchildren; Tristen, Zoie, Emma; and Layla Dawn Harper.
