Obituary

Terry McClellan, 78, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 26, 2026. Born on January 23, 1948, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Terry lived a life marked by faith, love for his family, and a heart for serving others.

Above all else, Terry cherished his family. He was intentional about investing in the lives of those he loved, taking a genuine interest in their passions, celebrating their accomplishments, and faithfully supporting them through every season of life. Whether attending events, offering encouragement, or simply spending quality time together, he made sure his family always knew they were deeply loved.

A gifted musician, Terry shared his talents generously throughout his life. He played in church worship bands, local theater productions, and community bands, using music as a way to glorify God and bring joy to those around him. His love for gospel music remained a constant throughout his life.

Outside of music, Terry enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, and listening to gospel music. As a proud alumnus of the University of South Carolina, he was a loyal Gamecocks fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.

Terry loved to travel and experience new places with his loved ones. Of all the places he visited, nowhere brought him greater peace than sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean in Daytona Beach, where he found rest in the beauty of God's creation.

Above all else, Terry loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life and was evident in the kindness he showed, the humility with which he served, and the compassion he extended to everyone he met. He sought to honor God not only in what he believed, but in the way he lived each day. He leaves behind a legacy of faith that continues to inspire his family and all who knew him.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Acton and Mildred McClellan.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Karen McClellan; his daughter, Allie (Zach) of Dublin, Georgia; his son, Matthew (Kaley) of Warner Robins, Georgia; his cherished grandchildren, Ben, Selah, and Bretton; his brother, Steve (Angela) of Hickory, North Carolina; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his family rejoices in the assurance that Terry is now whole, at peace, and in the presence of the Savior he faithfully served throughout his life. His love, his music, his unwavering faith, and the example he set will continue to echo through generations. His life was a beautiful testimony to God's goodness, and his memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A service celebrating Terry's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Pastor Darrell McGinnis officiating. A private family interment will be held at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the service hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
