Services for Ullis Foskey, age 91 of East Dublin, will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Union Baptist Church. Rev. Dahl McDermitt, Rev. Mike Mertz, and Rev. Keith Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Minter Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Foskey died Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
Mr. Foskey was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was formerly employed at J. P. Stevens Manufacturing for thirty-four years. Mr. Foskey was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Minter and served as a deacon at both Minter Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church. He also served as a Sunday School director and volunteer choir director. Mr. Foskey loved southern gospel music, singing many years in the Foskey Quartet. He was a devoted fan of J. D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet and loved singing bass himself in his quartet and the church choirs. As a loving and devoted husband to Louise Shannon Foskey for sixty-seven years, he was always an example of love and compassion to his daughters, Ellen and Ava. Many people commented on how Mr. Foskey was a godly and faithful man in the community and his faith never waivered.
Mr. Foskey was preceded in death by his parents, W. E. and Allie Foskey; and brothers, Clarence Foskey, Ovid Foskey, and Lee Foskey.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Shannon Foskey, of East Dublin; daughters, Ellen (Mike) Hill, of East Dublin, Ava (Keith) Smith, of Ducktown, TN; grandchildren, Dawn (Kenny) Snow, Lance (Nicole) Padgett, both of East Dublin, Andy (Jemmie) Smith, of Seattle, WA, Stephanie (Dominic) Silvani, of Guntersville, AL, David (Shannon) Smith, of Georgetown, TN; great grandchildren, Austin Padgett, Brittney Padgett, Spencer Coile, Morgan Snow, Elaina Snow, all of East Dublin, Mikaelyn Smith, Kaleb Smith, both of Georgetown, TN, and Jura Smith, of Seattle, WA.
Lance Padgett, Spencer Coile, Heath Foskey, Rodney Shannon, Phil Gay, and Reece Foskey will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
