Services for Vernon Lee DeLoach, age 82, of Dexter will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2014, at Dexter Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dexter Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Calvin Holcomb and Minister Larry Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. DeLoach died Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. DeLoach was a member of Bellevue Road Church of Christ for fifty-four years and served as the church's treasurer for thirty years. He was a former Dublin Chief of Police, City Councilman, and retired Major of the Laurens County Sheriff's Department. Mr. DeLoach was also retired from the National Guard. He was a member of the Dublin Civitan Club for forty-seven years, receiving the Honor Key twice. Mr. DeLoach was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Annie DeLoach, and brother, Ronnie DeLoach. Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Marilyn DeLoach; daughters, Christy Blue, Jan (Patrick) McWilliams, Deborah (Ray) Thomas, Jan (Dewitt) Moses, Fran (Jeffery) Dominy; grandchildren, Coby (Beth) Gay, Adrian Blue, Ashlie (Joe) Vallade, Allyson Sterling, Nicole Bailey, Bridget Thomas, Brooke (Hank) Steinhaur, Brittany (Heath) Miller, Deidra Moses; brothers, Donnie (Mary) DeLoach, Billy (Jessie) DeLoach, Ben (Ruth) DeLoach; sisters, Geneva DeLoach, Lugenia (Jack) Dorriety, Martha Ann Saia, Kaydeen (Buddy) Haire, Betty Morris; brother-in-law, F. R. Hobbs. Robert Drew, Chris Howell, Bruce Burch, Kenny Martin, Dale Frost, Mike Brooks, Tommy Davis, and Melton Tyson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dublin Civitan Club, Laurens County Sheriff's Department, all law enforcement officiers, male members of Bellevue Road Church of Christ, Skip Hendricks, Don Jenkins, Freddie Blackshear, Kim Blue, Jeff Brown, David Foster, Les Foster, and Joe Blackburn.
