Obituary

Services for Vicki Leigh Broach Burrell, age 54, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the First Baptist Church Family Center. Dr. Cliff Morris and Rev. Wally Weaver will officiate. Burial will be at the Pennington United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pennington at 3:30 PM with Dr. Lamar Holley and Rev. Harold Burrell officiating. Mrs. Burrell was born in Atlanta and was a native of Madison, Georgia. She attended North Georgia College and was a graduate of the University of Florida. Vicki was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in many ways, including Director of Children's Choir, member of the Chancel Choir, the Hosanna Handbell Choir, and she assisted with many youth mission choir tours. She was a teacher with the Dublin City School System for 24 years, where she was Teacher of the Year 2008-2009. Vicki was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Clack Broach, Nannie Ruth Broach, Olin Henry Watkins, and Montene Watkins. She is survived by her husband, Dick Burrell of Dublin; her children, Britt Burrell (Kelly) of Hattiesburg, MS, and Becky Burrell Washko (Greg) of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Addison Leigh Washko of Houston, TX; parents, Wilson and Regina Broach, of Madison; sisters, Susan Joseph (Louis) of Brentwood, TN, and Linda Skinner (Todd) of Powder Springs; and nieces and nephews, Beth Joseph, Louis Joseph IV, Cameron Skinner, and Ellen Skinner. Alan Barfoot, Brad Skeeters, Kelly Canady, Mickey Schuber, Bo-J Claxton, Ed Barr, Keith Lawrence, and Bill Smith will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Piano Fund at First Baptist Church, 405 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021 or to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of New York City, 132 West 32 Street, New York, NY 10001, attention: Tanesha Deane. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
