Services for Virginia Silas Hobbs, age 83, of Dexter will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Dexter Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Brad Nowell and Rev. Calvin Halcomb will officiate. Mrs. Hobbs died Monday, October 17, 2011. Mrs. Hobbs was born in Dexter to the late Clifford Silas and the late Mattie Bell Wood Silas. She graduated from Dexter High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hobbs was a faithful member of Dexter Baptist Church. One of her greatest joys was being with her family and having family gatherings. Survivors include her husband, Fisher Rudolph Hobbs, of Dexter; daughter, Linda Hobbs McAlexander, of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Rob (Tandy) Forth, of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Heather (Chris) M. Tomchuck, of Broomfield, CO; great grandson, Sam Tomchuck, of Broomfield, CO; sister Marilyn (Vernon) Deloach, of Dexter; nieces, Deborah (Ray) Thomas, of Rentz, Jan (Dewitt) Moses, of Dublin, Fran (Jeffery) Dominy, of Irwinton; and nephews, Neil (Sharon) Mullis, of Dexter, and Ricky (Louise) Mullis, of Dexter. Bobby Lawhorn, Don Hobbs, Ricky Mullis, Ricky Hobbs, Jeffery Hobbs, and Rob Forth will serve as pallbearers. Neil Mullis, Ray Thomas, Jeffery Dominy, and Dewitt Moses will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dexter Assembly of God Building Fund or Dexter Baptist Church Youth Program
