Services for Walter Lamar Barron, age 94 of Rentz, will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Rentz Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tom Vann will officiate. Mr. Barron was a Veteran of the United States Army. He served with the 195th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater of Operations WWII. He was a retired manager with Rhodes Furniture and loved playing music. Mr. Barron was a devoted husband and loving father. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Franklin Barron; mother, Ella Erma Rowland Barron and his wife, Ethel Millirons Barron. He passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Survivors include his daughters, Deloris Barron Taylor of St. Simons Island and Mary Barron (Mike) Booth of Rentz; grandchildren, Taryn Reed of Atlanta, Nicholas Meadows of USAF Stationed in Colorado, Donald Barron Fowler of Acworth and Jonathan Fowler of Norcross; brothers, Jack (Margaret) Barron and Richard (Shirley) Barron, all of Rentz and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday night from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
