Obituary

Cpl. Wayne Alan Harrison, 58, entered into eternal rest July 7, 2012. Mr. Harrison was born in Dublin on January 14, 1954, and was preceded in death by his father, Alton Lamar Harrison. He was retired from the Dublin Police Department after twenty-four years, ten months of service. He began as a dispatcher, worked a foot beat downtown before becoming a patrol officer and the DARE instructor. He was a Vice President of Emerald City Lodge 101 of the Fraternal Order of Police. Prior to his law enforcement service, he worked as Camera Department Manager at Woolworth and held part time jobs at Big Lots, Carmike Cinemas, and Wal-Mart Garden Center. Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Donna; mother, Frances Wells Harrison; daughter, Julie Leigh Harrison, all of Dublin; step-daughter, Jennifer (Ron) Woodard, of Rentz; step-sons, Kenneth (Jessica) Hughes, Jr., of Monterey, CA, and Christopher Hughes, of Dublin; brother, Alton Lynn (Linda) Harrison, of Dexter; sister, Saralyn (Oscar) Smith, of Dublin; two very close friends of the family, Skip (Teresa) Lowery, and Raj (Amrita) Saxena, all of Dublin; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Christin, Katie, Kamryn, Justin and Cole Woodard, all of Rentz, and Wyatt Hughes, of Monterey, CA.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with interment at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be members of the Dublin Police Department. Honorary pallbearers will be the Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Donations can be made in memory of Wayne to Defenders Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club for the Summer Curry Cancer Fund.
