Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. W.E. "Buddy" Carter age 86, will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00AM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pastors Tommy Veal and Sidney Davidson will officiate. Mr. Carter was born July 3, 1925 in Pelham, Georgia, and was the son of the late L.E. and Atha Carter. He was a member of Gethsemane Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by brothers; Eddie, Bill, Mose and Otis Carter and sister, Marice Carter Cohn. Mr. Carter passed away on June 27, 2012 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Mr. Carter was a World War II Veteran, serving in the 294th Combat Battalion in June 1944, during the Invasion of Normandy. He was the recipient of One Arrowhead for the Invasion of Normany and Five Bronze Service Stars for five campaigns during World War II. Mr. Carter served as City of East Dublin City Councilman from 1982 through 1997. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Annette Kearns Carter; sons, Ronnie (Belinda) Carter and Mike (Wanda) Carter; grandsons, Rusty (Michelle) Carter, Ryan (Ashley) Carter, Jeremy (Amy) Carter and granddaughters, Niki Carter Humphries, Jennifer (Sidney) Moore Davidson, Julie (Anthony) Moore Angulo and Jamie (James) Carter Muller; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Chandler Carter, Peyton Carter, Acie Carter & Sarah Hynote, Harley and Tatum Humphries, A.J., Jared & Joshua Davidson, Adan Angulo and Shelby and Storm Muller. He is also survived by one sister, Lillian Langdale and two sisters-in-law, Johnnie Sesco and Judy Flournoy and one brother-in-law, Earnest Flournoy. Rusty Carter, Ryan Carter, Jeremy Carter, Anthony Angulo, James Muller and A.J. Davidson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gethsemane Church Friendship Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Friday, June 27, 2012, from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
