Memorial Services for William "Billy" Payne, Jr., age 70, of Dublin will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date. Brother Reggie Chance will officiate. Mr. Payne was a retired Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country for 23 years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Payne was the son of the late William Gordon Payne, Sr. and the late Sallie Watkins Payne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Neil and Mitchell Campbell; sister, Elizabeth Arnold and father-in-law, Verlon Smallwood. Billy passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Serenity Place. He is survived by his wife, Joyce L. Payne of Dublin; two sons, Donald (Monica) Payne and David (Nicole) Payne, both of Florida; three daughters, Donna (Robby) Bailey of Danville, Melissa (Jimmy) Stephens of Cadwell and Candy Payne of Dublin; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30PM until funeral hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Billy's memory to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021; American Cancer Society, 216 Waverly Drive, Dublin, GA 31021 or to a charity of your choice.
