Services for William Elbert Smith, age 74 of Dublin, will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Nolon McDaniel and Rev. Keith Smith will officiate. Mr. Smith was born in Laurens County to the late Claude L. Smith and the late Alma Mimbs Smith. He was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens/ Forstmann after 45 years of service. He was a member of Lovett United Methodist Church and was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was very dedicated and a true patriot who loved his country. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and he loved spending time with his family. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leon Smith and a sister Evelyn Sutton. He passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012. Survivors include his wife, Irene Smith of Dublin, son, Bill (Legenia) Smith of Dublin, daughter, Angie D. (Roy) Martin of Mesa, AZ, grandchildren Wes (Kylie) Smith, Cassie Smith, Claire Smith, great granddaughter, Kenley Smith, sisters, Lois Palmer, Maxie Lynn, Patsy (Raymond) Wallace all of Dublin, brother, Hardy (Rita) Smith of Dexter, Pallbearers will be Henry Whitfield, Chip Smith, Jeff Smith, Gregg Raffield, Jayson Raffield and Claude Sutton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
