Obituary

Willie A. McCullars, age 87, of Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Mr. McCullars was born in Laurens County to the late Willie Alfred McCullars and the late Georgia Ann Beck McCullars. He served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. He retired from Forstmann with 26 years of service and worked at Georgia Plywood for 13 years. Willie loved to work in his garden when able, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He loved going to the mountains with his family and sitting under the oak tree with his brother and the dogs. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCullars was preceded in death by his brothers, W.D. McCullars. Clyde McCullars, Gerald McCullars, and Hawley McCullars and sisters, Nell Allen, Pearl Heath, and Effie Thomas. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Betty W. McCullars, of Dublin; daughter, Beth Shillingburg (Greg Cooper), of Dublin; son, Reggie McCullars (Charlotte), of Dublin; grandsons, Michael Shillingburg (Caroline), of Rentz, Casey Shillingburg (Courtney), of Dublin, Ryan McCullars (Kate), of Nickelsville, and Adam McCullars (Courtney), of Dublin; great-grandchildren, Shay Shillingburg and Dylan Shillingburg, both of Rentz, Perseis Shillingburg, of Dublin, Logan Willis of East Dublin, Thomas Shillingburg, of Dublin, Kix McCullars and Bobbi Kate McCullars, both of Nickelsville; brothers, Durell McCullars, of Cadwell and Charles McCullars (Linda), of Dublin; brothers-in-law, Russell Watson (Virginia), of Eastman and Wayne Evans, of Dublin; sisters-in-law, Judy Gilbreath (Larry), Faye McCullars and Mavis McCullars, all of Dublin, and Shelby McCullars, of Warner Robins and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 20th in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Greg Lowery and Rev. Jimmy Sumner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy McCullars, Danny McCullars, Todd Evans, Toby Evans, Mike Watkins, Eddie Watson, and Wayne Heath. The family may be contacted at the home of Reggie and Charlotte McCullars.
