Obituary

Services for Wilma Powell Walker, affectionately known as Monkey, will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Dublin. Burial will follow at 3:30pm in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery (Sand Hill) in Telfair County. Dr. Rick Mitchell and Rev. Jim Dominey will officiate. Mrs. Walker was 71 years old. Mrs. Walker was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Mary Horton Circle. She was a founding member of the Telfair County Marching Band Boosters and hand sewed the first uniforms. Mrs. Walker spent many years sponsoring and counseling women in recovery from addiction. She loved her garden of daylilies and would share with anyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her Clements cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Jasper Cullen Powell and mother, Eva Mae Clements Powell. Mrs. Walker passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010. She is survived by her husband, David Cameron Walker of Dublin, two daughters; Suzanne (David) Cole of Dublin and Sandy (James) Bennett of McRae, two sons; David (Elizabeth) Walker and Joseph Walker both of Dublin, three granddaughters; Amy (Brandon) Dunlap and Ada Walker both of Dublin and Emily (Brenton) Wood of Lumber City, two grandsons; Cameron Bennett of McRae and Joshua Cole of Dublin and a brother, Jimmy (Brenda) Knight of McRae and several nieces and nephews. David Howard, Bruce Howard, Jeff Elkins, Andrew Duncan, Michael Walker and Johnny Howard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The family may also be contacted at 104 South Drive in Dublin, GA.
