Yvonne Barwick Cox, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Yvonne grew up in Dublin, GA as the 4th of 5 children of the Barwick family. Yvonne graduated from Dublin High School before moving to Atlanta. There she met and married Billy Cox from Baker FL. Yvonne and Billy had three children: Richard, Stephanie, and Andy. Yvonne was a loving mother who was dedicated to her family. Once the children were in school, Yvonne went to work at K-mart in Mableton, GA, where she developed strong and lasting friendships with many of her colleagues.

Yvonne was always proud of her three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Yvonne was a source of comfort and care for her entire family, including siblings, nieces, and nephews. Yvonne retired from K-mart in 2009 and moved to Summerville, GA. In Summerville, Yvonne joined the Four Mile Baptist Church where she continued living a life of Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Estoria Barwick; siblings: Larry Barwick, Monrow Barwick, Patricia Barwick Thomas; and ex-husband, Billy Cox.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Cox (Pam) of Hiram, GA, and Andy Cox of Rockmart, GA; daughter, Stephanie Cox (Sam West) of Land O Lakes, FL; brother, William Clovis Barwick (Dottie) of South Carolina; granddaughter, Brittany Donaghue (Zach); grandsons: Daniel Cox, Tyler Cox, Jacob Cox, Ben Cox, Gabriel West, Darien West; great-granddaughters, Adeline Donaghue and Sadie Donaghue, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 11 ^th at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, GA.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2022, in the Minter Cemetery. Doyle Kelly will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
