Zane Fletcher Smith, age 83 of Dublin, GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Dublin, GA. Rev. Don Hicks and Rev. Myron Wise will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at Mortons Corners Cemetery in New York. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born March 2, 1933 in Gowanda, NY, to the late Fletcher and Lois Smith. He was a graduate of Robert's Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY, served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and worked as a supervisory medical laboratory technologist. He worked in Batavia, NY, Fort Wayne, IN, and retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. Since retiring, he substitute taught at some of the local schools and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife of 58 ½ years, Elvera, of Dublin, GA; sons, Scott (Gail), of Redford, MI and Bryon (Jackie), of Goshen, IN; grandsons, Scott, Jr., of Lingle, WY, Grant (Holly), of Dearborn, MI, David, of Midland, MI, Parker (Aby), of Lingle, WY, and Benjamin, of Goshen, IN, and great-grandchildren, Savana and Zane, both of Dearborn, MI.
