Alfred Durrell McCullars, age 90, of Cadwell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2023.
Durrell McCullars was born in Cadwell, Ga., on October 15, 1932, to the late Willie and Georgia Beck McCullars. He was employed by Woodall Electric Co. for over 30 years. He lived in Atlanta, Ga. until retirement before returning to Cadwell. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he enjoyed being the greeter on Sunday mornings. His favorite hobbies were taking care of his yard, his flowers, and his garden; along with his furry friend, Baby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice McCullars; 10 brothers and sisters; son, Richard McCullars, daughter, Reneé Shipp, and his grandson, Greg Shipp.
Survivors include his daughters, Carole Cook of Cadwell, and Becky Vogt (Jeff) of Monroe; grandchildren, Suzi Hull (Jim) of Murfreesboro, TN, Jay Shipp (fiancé Sally) of Kailua, HI, Mandie Sledge (Clint) of Monroe, Zane Baker of Cochran, Zac Vogt (Chelsea) of Monroe, and Kyle Baker (Shona) of Rockledge; 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his furry companion, Baby.
A funeral service for Mr. Durrell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Greg Lowery will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church.
