Services for Amberce “Andy” Thigpen, age 87, will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Thigpen Cemetery. Rev. Darrell Paulk will officiate. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
Bearl Greenway, Tommy Wood, Larry Thigpen, Bobby Branch, Ryan Kinsler, and Greg Evans will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Thigpen was born November 28, 1936 to the late Malcolm Thigpen and the late Marie Clements Thigpen. He retired after serving as the Director of Industrial Engineering at Mohawk Industry. He also worked with Giddeon International. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Gossett and Betty Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Frances Tipton Thipgen; son, Douglas Malcolm Thigpen (Angela) of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Marcia Ann Johnson of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Kylie Kinsler (Ryan), Jessica Thigpen, Christopher Johnson (Madeline), and Daniel Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Roland Morrow, Cooper Kinsler, and Parker Johnson; and sister, Carol Joiner of Bonaire.
