Amelia Ruth Nowell Landsman, aged 87, was born August 25, 1937, in Athens, GA, and passed peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Palm Bay, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Nowell, and her brothers Lewis, John, and Robert Nowell. She is survived by: siblings - Lester Nowell (Mimi) and Gina Holmes (Buster); four children from her marriage to H A Bloodworth – Gwen Bloodworth Giddens (Bill Mahaffey), Herman Bloodworth (Kathy), Faith Bloodworth Bowman, Roger Bloodworth (Susan); six grandchildren – Jessie Giddens Takeda (Yukinori), Beth Giddens, Caroline Bloodworth Morrison (Christopher), Evan Walshe (Yaprak), Jennifer Bowman (Barry Ali), Samuel Bowman (Rachel Keener); five great-grandchildren along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Amelia devoted herself to her faith, family, work, and education. She frequently shared her Christian faith journey with family and friends. She enjoyed annual reunions with the Hardy-Nowell family throughout her life. Her work focus was teaching students identified with blindness in Georgia and California. She ultimately earned her Doctor of Education degree (EdD) from the University of Georgia in 1985.
The interment of Amelia’s ashes will be in the Nowell family plot of Northview Cemetery, Dublin, GA at 11:00 am on March 21, 2025. In lieu of memorial flowers, please contribute prayer, time, and/or funds to your preferred church or charity.
