Marsha Ann Strickland, age 68, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021.
Ann was born in Laurens County on June 19, 1953, to the late Lyman and Lezellia Hightower. She attended Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School School Class. She liked to sew, watch old movies, and play cards. She also enjoyed gardening and listening to country music. Ann loved her children and grandchildren deeply and her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Strickland; brothers, Earl Hightower and Nathan Hightower, and sister, Cathy Hightower.
Survivors include her children, Temple Hance (James), of Mt. Vernon, Michael Chris Strickland (Chelen), of Augusta, Tommy Willingham, of Texas, and Shannon Summerlin (Chris), of Texas; grandchildren, Nathan Hance, Rebecca Jace (Devin), Anna Hance, Logan Strickland, Tanner Strickland, Alex Willingham, Kennedy Willingham, Samantha Summerlin, Rory Summerlin, Isabella Summerlin, and Ashton Summerlin; brother, Greg Hightower (Cindy); sisters, Lynn Meacham (Tommy), and Lisa Hightower, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the church. Rev. Karl Hay will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Hance, Logan Strickland, Tanner Strickland, Matt Hightower, Devin Jace, and Adam Hightower.
