Barbara Elizabeth (Vincent) Ellis

Barbara Elizabeth Vincent Ellis, age 96, of Dexter was called home to be with her Savior on June 1, 2024. Mrs. Ellis was a devoted pastor’s wife, who loved Jesus and her family.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and  was preceded in death by Dr. Alton W. Ellis, Sr., her beloved husband of 59 ½ years. Barbara was born on October 13, 1927. She was a wonderful Christian example to all who knew her and met her. She worked alongside her husband to minister and spread God’s love for more than 50 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Linda Ellis, her son Ronald E. Ellis, her grandsons: Britt M. Warren and Brandon R. Warren, her granddaughter Amanda Ellis  and her parents Pearson H. Vincent and Ethel M. Vincent. 
She is survived by her children, Shirley Ellis Warren, Teresa Ellis Warren (Billy), Alton “Pete” W. Ellis Jr. (Brenda), and Randall C. Ellis (Donis); grandchildren, Wendy Price, Kim Hobbs (Don), Blake Warren, Tyler Warren (Abby), Kevin Ellis (Natasha), Amy Jackson (Erik), Erika Pitre (Luke), Corrie Ellis, Justin Ellis (Kim), and Kyle Ellis, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Ellis will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Dexter Baptist Church. Rev. Grady Mimbs will officiate. Visitation will be  at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Ellis, Kyle Ellis, Blake Warren, Tyler Warren, Don Hobbs Jr. and Erik Jackson. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Ellis' and Shirley Warren's home at 414 Parklane Drive, Dexter.
