Services for Bernice Irene Ussery Hobbs, age 88, will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1605 Green Street) with interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Brother Rex Boland and Bishop Saul Fordham will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Richard Brown, Erick Brown, Daniel Brown, Dewayne Ussery, Terry O’Quinn, Joshua Williams, Reginald Dominy, and Dewayne Martin.
Mrs. Hobbs was born in Dublin to the late Welcome Ussery and the late Cora Powell Edge on September 3, 1935. She served as an LPN at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center as well as the Dooly Medical Center. She was a member of The Church of Latter-Day Saints in Dublin. She loved and lived her religion daily. She was an avid reader and a wonderful caretaker. She truly enjoyed taking care of her daughter. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Add Hobbs, Jr.; daughter, Beverly Starley; and sisters, Myrtle Ussery and Lois Jackson.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Brown (Rick) of Dublin; daughter, Debbie Marmont (Cecil) of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Nancy Hawthorne (Gary) of Cache, OK; grandchildren, Matthew Marmont, Hope Ripley, Jessica Hawthorne, Erick Brown, Daniel Brown, and Amanda Brown; great-grandchildren, Seth Young, Lailee Brown, Haisley Brown, Grayson Brown, Nash Brown, and Owen Brown; sister, Ruby Nell Garrett of Dublin; and nieces, Melanie Jackson and Heidi Jackson.
