Mrs. Betty Chester Carroll, age 92, of Dublin, Georgia passed away on July 13, 2022, at Dublin Place in Dublin, Georgia after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with Reverend Kim Dixon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
She was born on May 31, 1930, in Wrightsville, Georgia to her parents, William Columbus and Julia Meeks Chester, and was the youngest of 12 children. After graduating high school, she completed a business course and was employed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. Additionally, she was employed at Bank of Wrightsville and Citizens & Southern Bank in Dublin and retired from banking with approximately 30 years of service.
In 1952 she married M. B. (Sonny) Carroll Ill and moved to Dublin. She and her husband were charter members of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons: Alan Carroll and Michael Carroll (Becky); two grandchildren: Michael Clay Carroll Jr. (Katie) and Callie Carroll Ricks (Kenny); two great-grandchildren: Hayden Ricks and Bennett Ricks; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, M. B. Carroll Ill; her parents, William Columbus and Julia Meeks Chester; her siblings, Rowena Chester, Clay Chester, Golos Chester Blount, Ethel Chester Bedingfield, Julia Chester Veal, Ruth Chester Brown, Ruby Chester Franklin, Grace Chester Beacham, Virginia Chester Kirkpatrick, Doris Chester Andrieni-Portka, and Wesley Chester.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Laverne, Mary, and Sylvia for their love and compassion in taking care of our mother, to the employees of Agape Hospice, Dublin Place, and Fairview Park Hospital for their excellent care, and to a special friend, Lena Daniel.
