Betty Johnson McTier was born on October 14, 1937, in Johnson County to the late Pearlie and Nettie Miller Johnson. Formerly from East Dublin, GA, Mrs. McTier retired from J.P. Stevens and raised four loving children; Farran, Alan, Donna, and Kenny. Betty has been residing in Marietta, GA with her son and family for the last ten years since the passing of her husband, Donald. She had been in failing health for the past few years and finally succumbed to complications on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Farran and Debby McTier, and their children; Melissa, Jennifer, Jessa, Jessica, and Donald, all of Marietta, GA; son, Alan McTier, of Woodstock; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Jones, and their children, Victoria, Randy, Jr., Janie, and Nicole, all of Wewahitchka, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Julie McTier, and their children, Hope, Scarlet, Mitchell, Christian, Nolan, and Bianca, all of Johnson City, TN; sisters, Sylvia Carter, of Wrightsville, GA and Nell Walden, of Warner Robins, GA; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2020, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McTier will lie in state Sunday, October 18, 2020, until 4:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
