Betty Nell Garrett Parker, age 89, of Dublin, GA passed away peacefully on April 19, 2020 at Twelve Oaks Senior Living.
Betty was born in Bartow, GA on September 30, 1930 to the late Alan B. and Ethel C. Garrett. She graduated from Bartow High School and attended Tift College in Forsyth, GA. She worked as Administrative Assistant to four Citizens & Southern Bank Presidents and retired from the bank after 32 years, and later worked as Office Manager for Timberland Resources in Dublin. She had a passion for music and enjoyed expressing this passion by singing and playing piano. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a fixture in the Chancel Choir, and also shared her musical gifts as a pianist for church services and for many, many children’s choir practices and presentations. She was a Charter Member, and past President of the Dublin Pilot Club; and named an Honorary Rotarian in the Dublin Rotary Club for her 50 years of service to the club as pianist.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Parker; sons Louis H. Parker, Jr. and Paul G, Parker; and Brother Roy Price. Survivors include her sons, Alan D. Parker (RaeAnn) of Columbus, GA, and Roy O. Parker (Jackie) of Dublin; her grandchildren, Leah Donlin (Chris), Garrett Parker, Meredith Culpepper (Jeff), Stephen Parker, Christopher Parker, and Michael Parker; her five great grandchildren; her brothers, Burton Garrett (BJ) of Watkinsville, GA and Arlie Garrett (Nancy) of Palatka, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service was held on April 21, 2020 at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the love and care that Betty received from Stephanie Stanley and from the staff at Twelve Oaks Senior Living and Serenity Hospice. If anyone is interested in honoring Betty’s life the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church, Dublin, GA, and be directed to the music ministry of the church.
