Betty Lou (McCord) Powell

Betty Lou Powell, age 88, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on January 5, 1935, to the late W.C. and Pauline McCord.  She retired from JP Stevens and was a unique individual who always kept you on your toes. You never had to wonder where you stood with her on any given day. She was that person who you always wanted to help, regardless of her telling you how she wanted you to do it. She was truly blessed at the age of 88 to have so many people in her life that truly loved her. Betty will definitely be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Powell; son, Kenneth Harding; brother, Nolan (Annie Merle) McCord, and sisters, Jackie (John) Cavendar and Lois (Wendell) Mathis.

She is survived by her brother, Hugh McCord (Shirley) of Vidalia, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Frankie Mathis and Mr. Mike Cavendar will conduct the service.

Pallbearers will be Gerad Mathis, Garrett Mathis, Zach McCord, Dustin Wilson, Walker McCord, and Tyler Mathis.
