Services for Billy R. Wood, age 88, will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Rock Springs Baptist Church with interment to follow at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Billy’s nephews, Stubb Harden, Danny Harden, Benny Wood, Mark Harden, Will Lovett, and Jim Raynolds will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Billy R. Wood was born in Laurens County January 16, 1935 to the late Louis Augustus Wood and the late Ulna Mae McConnell Wood. He worked in the trucking and freight industry for many years. Billy had a cheerful heart and was always thankful. The family is sad and processing the loss. We know who he was, what he stood for, and where he is today. His faith was strong, he loved the Savior, and was willing to serve. His motto – “Always leave it better than you found it.”
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Harris Wood, sisters, Audrey Lovett, Neil Harden, Grace Haden, and Joyce Wood.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Hazel Wood of Plain City, Utah; his son, Ronnie Wood (Julie) of Brunswick; his daughter, Lori Griffis of Plain City, Utah; his grandchildren, Joette Tuner (Sam), Tara Hale (Ben), Luke Wood (Kelli), and Ali Day (Scott); eleven great grandchildren; sister, Ophelia Corbett of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Mary Joe Haines of Grey; and many nieces and nephews.
