Carolyn Allen Obituary

Carolyn NeSmith Allen, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, in Cochran, GA. Born on September 25, 1934, Carolyn's life was one marked by selfless devotion to her family, her work, and her faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and an unshakeable spirit that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Carolyn was the daughter of the late Lonnie Clyde NeSmith and Catherine Fountain NeSmith, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morgan Gilbert Allen, and their infant daughter, Margaret Carol Allen. Her memory will be lovingly remembered by her son, Lonnie Gilbert "Gil" Allen (Robyn), and daughter, Angela Allen Edwards (Edwin), along with her adored grandchildren, Megan Haney (Mark) of Hoover, AL, Miles Allen (Ashley) of Forsyth, Matthew Edwards (Ashley) of Dublin, Dustin Edwards (Emily) of Gray and Morgan Edwards of Dublin, as well as her step-grandchildren, Ross and Will Griffith. Carolyn's eight great-grandchildren, Caroline, Bailey, Brooks, Ollie Reese, Lydia Mae, Everly Jane, Elijah John, and Grace Garner, brought her immeasurable joy in her later years. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn's professional life was dedicated to the Dublin City Schools, where she retired as an administrative assistant after more than 35 years of service. In her role, she worked alongside and supported seven different superintendents with diligence and precision. She was not only an employee but also a mentor and friend to many, touching the lives of countless students and staff with her kindness and patience.

She attended First Baptist Church and her faith was an integral part of her life. She cherished traveling, especially beach trips with the girls, who will fondly remember her as the one who brought laughter and light to every gathering.

Carolyn's love for reading was only matched by her passion for education. She believed in the power of knowledge and the potential of every child. Her dedication to learning did not end with her retirement; she continued to advocate for education and enjoyed interacting with children, always encouraging them to strive for their best.

Carolyn found joy in canning vegetables with her family, a tradition that not only provided sustenance but also nurtured the bonds of family. Her home and her table were a place where love was cultivated and memories were preserved.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Rev. Cole Morris and Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
