Clarence Edward Griffith, Jr.

Clarence Edward (Ed) Griffith, Jr., of Dublin, Georgia died November 14, 2021, following a brief illness. He was born February 10, 1956, in Dublin the son of the late Mary and Edward Griffith. Ed was a member of the Dublin High School Graduation Class of 1974. He was a varsity letterman in both basketball and golf. He graduated from the Terry Business School at the University of Georgia in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in Production Management. Ed’s early professional career involved production and quality control with JP Stevens, Flexsteel, Playtex Apparel (Sara Lee), and Vanity Fair. He was employed by the contracting firm Doyle Consulting as a permit expeditor for cell tower antennae installations for Verizon Wireless.

Ed was an avid outdoorsman and athlete. Ed’s love for basketball motivated him to earn certifications as a Tier 2 official with Peach State Basketball Official Association and Georgia High School Association. Recently, he returned to playing competitive golf as a senior golfer. In 2019, his love for the outdoors inspired him to open Griffith Quail Hunt Excursions. He hosted guided quail hunts with highly skilled dogs. He especially enjoyed donating time to Hunting for a Cure that provided the first outdoor hunting opportunities to young cancer survivors and their families.

He and his family were longtime members of the First United Methodist Church and Dublin Country Club.

Ed is survived by his wife of forty-three years; Karol Weathers Griffith, his sons Clarence (Clay) Edward Griffith, III, and Coleman Evan Griffith, and one granddaughter Lily Grace Griffith.

The service to celebrate his life will be held at First United Methodist Church on November 17 at 11:00 with Rev. Keith Goodlett officiating. Interment will be prior to the service at 10:00 at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Dublin, Hunting for the Cure, or a charity of your choice.
