Services for Clarence Gregory Johnson, age 79, will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Pine Forest Church with a Masonic service and interment to follow at Macon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers include the Mens Senior Sunday School Class, B.V. Bailey, Claude Bailey, William Bailey, and Pat Biddy.
Mr. Johnson was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 18, 1944 to the late Isaac Johnson and the late Inez Brewer. Gregory was a kind man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed taking pictures, collecting coins to give as gifts, and helping others. He enjoyed selling fireworks for TNT and working the concessions stand at Smileys Flea Market.
Mr. Johnson served in many roles within his life. He served as the President of Dublin Laurens Jaycees, a W. Master Thagert of Lodge 4S0 charter member – Toast Master of Dublin, President and CEO of General Development Co. of Dublin, President and CEO of Johnson Homes, a member of the Scottage Rite of Middle Georgia, a member of the Masonic Lodge #340 of Dexter, and Pine Forest Church where he was also a member of the Senior Mens Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Margie Johnson Browning, great-granddaughter, Alexis Rayleigh Johnson, and his long-time soulmate, Donna (Buck) Salter.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Greta Sue Hock (Rob); two sons, Clarence Raylon Johnson and Christopher Gregory Johnson; grandchildren, Leah Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Alex Johnson, Courtney Hock, Chance Hock, and Trey Hock; great-granddaughter, Allie G. Johnson; sister, Pamela B. Roberson; Brenda Sue Christian, Torie Powell, and Troy Powell; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
