Collins Gene Cook, Sr.

Collins Gene Cook, Sr., age 84, passed away on July 23, 2023. Services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., with a visitation held an hour before, at Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Reverend Kyle Giddens will be the officiant; and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class will be serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Cook was employed as a salesman for many years for Dublin Seed Company. He was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. While he was a member there, he was a part of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class; and served as a deacon as for forty-eight years. He served in the United States Army; and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Jefferson and Monester Fortune Cook; brothers, Junior Cook, James Winston “Winkie” Cook, and Marvin Cook; and sisters, Jewel Wynott, and Carolyn Fisher.

Collins Cook, Sr. was succeeded in life by his wife, of sixty-four years, Mable Sapp Cook; daughter, Wynona Cook Tanner; son, Collins Gene Cook, Jr.; granddaughter, McKenzie Rustin (Jason) Bonner; brothers, Bowden Cook and Eston Cook; sisters, Marilyn Schulman and Glenda Walker; and several nieces and nephews.
