Ms. Cordelia Ann “Dedie” Curry passed away peacefully at Fairview Hospital on August 6, 2022.
Dedie was born February 1, 1951, in Dublin, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Frances W. Curry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas A. Curry III. Dedie graduated from Dublin High School in 1969 and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1973.
Survivors include her two sons – Michael A. Maffett (Natalie) of Dublin and Thomas C. Maffett (Robin) of Atlanta; grandchildren Davis and Charlie Maffett, both of Dublin; sister Ruth C. Turner (George) of Alpharetta; nieces– Andrea Curry Wheeler and Frances Turner; nephews - Andrew Turner and George Turner Jr.; along with cousin Louie Curry (Ann) of Dublin, and longtime friend and family caregiver, Gwen Arline (Boo).
Dedie was a member of the Dublin Girls Cotillion Club and a retired member of the Dublin Service League. Her passion was working in the garden where she grew many variations of plants and flowers and had the ultimate green thumb. She had recently moved back to Dublin after living on the beach (her happy place) in St. Simons Island and Hilton Head for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Northview Cemetery. Chip Bodi, the youth minister at First United Methodist Church will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9 at Townsend Funeral Home.
