Obituary

Daisy Ellen Robinson Coleman, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Southern Pines Retirement Villa in Hawkinsville, GA.

Daisy was born September 23, 1926, to Melvin Asa and Pansy Irene (Rayburn) Robinson in Greenup County, Kentucky. After graduating from McKell High School in 1944, Daisy earned an accounting degree from Portsmouth Interstate Business College and began working in the main office of the Cambridge Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Daisy moved to Dublin, Georgia in 1951, upon marrying the love of her life and husband of 48 years, Leland Hugh Coleman. A trailblazer of her time, Daisy was a dedicated employee of the Veterans Administration Hospital, serving as an accountant for 28 years, all while rearing her three sons and managing her household.

Daisy was a devoted member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member and officer of the Dublin Chapter of the Eastern Star. After retirement, Daisy kept busy working with the American Cancer Society, The Lighthouse, Advocates for Alzheimer's Care and volunteering with various groups in the Dublin community. Daisy loved completing the daily crossword puzzle and continued this into her 90s.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Leland Hugh Coleman, son Dale Edwin Coleman, and brothers John Robinson and William “Bill” Robinson and her many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Survivors include her children Hugh (Cathy) Coleman and Jeffery (Tony) Coleman; brothers Harold (Shelba) Robinson, Donald (Barbara) Robinson, sister, Anita Grywalsky; sister-in-law Martha Coleman Jones; grandchildren Clint (Tammy) Coleman, Kevin (Crystal) Coleman, Kelli Coleman, Carrie (Blake) Burnham, and Justin (Sierra) Horne; great-grandchildren Daniel Coleman, Loretta Coleman, Daisy Coleman, Keslie Burnham, Emmie Burnham, and Branson Burnham and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her family would like to recognize and thank her wonderful personal caregivers, staff at Southern Pines Retirement Villa, and the staff of Agape Hospice for the devoted care and dedication to her well being over the last 2 years.

The family will greet friends Monday, March 20, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Townsend Funeral Home, Dublin, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at White Springs Baptist Church, Glenwood, Georgia. Pastor Kyle Giddens will officiate. Pallbearers Clint Coleman, Kevin Coleman, Daniel Coleman, Lance Coleman, Blake Burnham, and Justin Horne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse, Advocates For Alzheimer's Care, 611 Bellevue Ave, Dublin, GA 31021.
