Danny Roy Gillis, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on August 18, 1966, in Dublin, Georgia, Danny's life was a testament to the joy and love he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Gillis of East Dublin, and step-sons, Allen Daniels (Angel) of Dublin and Lee Powell of Rockledge. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zach Daniels, Brandon Daniels, Addie Powell, and Aubrey Powell.
Danny was the son of Roy Washington Gillis (Pam) of East Dublin and Mary Lynn Reid of Dublin and brother to Keith Gillis of Dublin and Dewayne Gillis (Ann) of Midville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin Gillis, and son, Tyler Gillis.
For many years, Danny worked as a dedicated truck driver. He attended New Bethel Baptist Church and it was this faith that gave him strength and comfort. Danny's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. An avid racing fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite driver, Tony Stewart. His love for woodworking and painting showcased his artistic side, while his enthusiasm for hunting spoke to his adventurous spirit. Danny's talents were many, and he found joy in creating and exploring.
