Darrell L. Mullis, Jr.

Darrell L. Mullis Jr., age 79, of Dublin, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Mullis was born in Laurens County on February 14, 1944, to the late Ralph and Evelyn Elizabeth Cox. He was a retired distributor with Tom’s Foods Company and a retired bus driver with the Laurens County School System. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he served faithfully as Sunday School Director for 25 years. Darrell had a huge impact on raising and modeling the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was such a humble man with a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious smile, and loved to keep everyone around him laughing. More than these things, he deeply loved his Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Joan Mullis, brother, Edward Cox, and nephew, Stephen Pope.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Tommy) Graham and Teresa Mullis both of Dublin; grandchildren, Candace (Dealous, Jr.) Williams, Jessica Pittman, Carmen-Rae Graham, and Casie Graham all of Dublin; great-grandchildren, Joshua NeeSmith, Hunter Register, Trey Williams, Lillie Williams, Jesslyn Sellers, and Jace Sellers all of Dublin; sister, Dianne Pope (Douglas) of Dublin; brother-in-law, Ishmael Elmo Cooper “Bubba”, Jr. of Eastman; sister-in-law, Brenda Cox of Dublin, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Services will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at New Bethel Baptist Church at 2pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will accept friends one hour before the service at New Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor Tyler Daniel and Rev. Ken Rodgers will officiate.

Pallbearers include Chandler Edmond, Joshua NeeSmith, Trey Williams, Tony Stracener, Logan Ward, and Joseph Glenn.
