David Coburn Blackinton passed away on the evening of February 10, 2021, after a nearly four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His wife Dr. Dilshad Blackinton, MD, passed away last May of ovarian cancer and a dual memorial service will be held on Narragansett Bay in his home state of Rhode Island, this summer.
Dave followed a career path as a police officer, a nurse, and a stock trader; finding enrichment along each step of his journey. Without a doubt, one of his most important steps was when he married Dil in September 1987.
Dave and Dil; as they were known to all whom loved them, enjoyed a life of travel and lived a full life together in the states of Rhode Island, Maine, Virginia, and Georgia.
David was a free spirit who loved to travel and loved his church family at Christ Chapel Dublin. He was happy that life brought him and his family to Dublin where he made connections that would be known as his “Dublin Family.” He and his family went many times to Europe and India. In fact, Dave traveled to India a total of eight times in his life where he discovered his passion for yoga and meditation.
David is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Barbara Blackinton, and his sister Judy Baxter.
He is survived by his son Coburn, his brother Thomas and sister-in-law Carol, and brother-in-law Richard Baxter, many nieces and nephews as well as Dilshad’s loving family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave’s name to Christ Chapel, Dublin.
