Services for David “Larry” Evans, 77, of Rentz, who passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Rentz Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rentz Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, on Monday, November 22, 2021.
Sammy Coley, Dave Couey, Brad Lowery, Ron Lowery, Jay Lowery, and John McKee will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Evans was a native of Rentz, GA, and the son of the late Harold E. Evans and Winnie “Grace” Dixon Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Crawford Evans, of Rentz; children, David (Dessirree) Evans, Richard (Amie) Evans, and Ann (Clayton) Willis; grandchildren, Colt Evans, Eric Evans, Hank (Shanda) Evans, Bailey (Clay) Thomas, Gracie Evans, Ryan Willis, and Reagan Willis; sister, Annelle Lowery (Allen) Ricks; brother, Danny (Bonnie) Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by two brother-in-laws, Hugh Lowery and Charles Crawford.
After 34 years and approximately three and one half million miles, he retired as an owner-operator in 2005. His dispatcher could always count on him to be a professional, dependable driver. Following retirement, he managed the New Farmers Co-op until his health declined. He served as a member of the Rentz City Council.
His hobbies included fishing and his pride and his joy were his grandchildren. He loved volunteering with Builders for Christ every summer for over twenty years, until his health declined. Many blessings and lasting friendships occurred on these trips.
He was a member of Rentz Baptist Church.
