Dolores Dell Glover, known lovingly as Dee, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Athens, Georgia, at the age of 90.
Dee was born on August 7, 1935, in Everett, Washington, to her late parents, Harry Otten and Dell Moore Otten. She grew up on the U.S. west coast and as a young woman, she served as a volunteer member of the Civilian Defense Ground Observer Corp, helping observe and plot unidentified planes in support of the safety of the nation. That early commitment to public service reflected the character for which she was known. She was friendly, creative, and passionate, and those traits shaped the many roles she embraced over the years. Dee later worked in civil service at the U.S. Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya, where her life took a beautiful and lasting turn when she met her future husband, Dr. Ridley M. Glover.
After Dr. Glover’s military discharge, he returned to Georgia to join a medical practice in radiology, and the two built a life together and were happily married lovebirds for nearly 60 years.
Throughout her working years, Dee served in bookkeeping, banking, and office management, where her diligence and reliability were appreciated by all who knew her. She approached her work with care and professionalism, and she brought the same thoughtful attention to every responsibility she accepted. Whether in the workplace or at home, Dee was known for her practical wisdom, her gracious manner, and her ability to make others feel welcome and valued.
Dee was also deeply engaged in her church and community. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Dublin Civic Theatre, the Medical Auxiliary, the Pilot Club, and the Order of the Blarney Stone. Her commitment to community service was especially evident through her involvement with the Pilot Club, where she took pride in helping distribute bike helmets to children in support of brain health and in providing Lifeline Emergency Alert Systems to seniors in need. She believed in caring for others in tangible ways, and she found purpose in serving causes that improved the lives of those around her.
One of Dee’s proudest civic accomplishments was becoming the first woman to serve as Chairperson of the St. Patrick’s festival in Dublin in 1984. This milestone was a point of great pride, and it reflected both her leadership and her willingness to help open doors for others. She also loved performing in productions with the Dublin Civic Theatre when it was active and served as an officer there as well. Her creative spirit found expression on stage, where she enjoyed bringing joy to audiences and fellow performers alike.
In recent years, Dee became a beloved presence among the staff and residents of Orchard Senior Living in Athens, where her lively personality continued to shine. She loved dancing and singing Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy” with her favorite performer, Steve McKee, and Orchard staff will lovingly remember her as The Dancing Queen. Even in her later years, she brought energy, humor, and light to those around her, and she remained true to the spirited and affectionate nature that defined her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Glover (Ross) Gagnon of Boone, NC; Rebecca Glover (Lou) Kudon of Lexington, GA; her grandson, Sam Gagnon of Denver, CO and granddaughter Josie Gagnon of Brooklyn, NY
