Doris Thompson Peace passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in Clarkesville, GA, at the age of 87. Born on September 20, 1937, in Scott, GA, she was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. The daughter of the late Harvey and Mattie Rowland Thompson, Doris was a cherished figure whose warmth and faith-filled spirit touched many hearts throughout her life.
Doris's journey began as a graduate of Adrian High School, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and service. Her professional path led her to a fulfilling career at the Navicent Medical Center, where she retired as a secretary in the Intensive Care Unit in 1999. Her work was not just a job; it was a testament to her caring nature and her desire to help others in their times of need.
Doris's life was rich with relationships that were the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted wife to her late husband of 61 years, Jimmy Peace, and a nurturing mother to her son, Mike Peace. Although she faced the heartbreaking loss of her daughters, Paula Probert and Pam Odom, Doris's legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren, Brandi and Rick Trefelner, Shawn Peace, Ryan (Danielle) Eckhart, Lindsey (Mark) Manning, Mandy (Tim) Wynn, Brad (Kristen) Odom, and Brian (Emily) Odom. Her joy multiplied with the addition of 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness and pride to her life. She is also survived by a brother, Carl Thompson.
In addition to her immediate family, Doris was the sister of the late Blanche Smith, Herman Thompson, James Thompson, Marvin Thompson, and Roy Thompson.
Doris spent her last years in the nurturing care of her niece, Sandy, and Sandy's husband, Jimmy Turner, in Clarkesville. There, she found a community of new friends who quickly became part of her extended family. Her ability to connect with people, to share in their joys and sorrows, and to provide a listening ear and a comforting word was unmatched.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Cory Maurer and Pastor Jimmy Wright officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the church.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Smith, Ken Thompson, Marty Thompson, Randy Thompson, Brad Anderson, and Bobo Thompson.
