Doug Hines

Early Friday, May 29^th, Douglas Reece Hines slipped from the bounds of the earth and is at home and at peace with the Lord.  Doug was born in Chattanooga, TN on April 8, 1944.  He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1962, the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 1965.  He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years.  He was a bi-vocational worship leader from 1970 to 1994 when he answered the call to full-time ministry.  He served churches in Chattanooga, as well as Georgia churches in Savannah, Augusta, Atlanta, Cleveland, and Dublin - where he served at Liberty Church until he passed.

The driving force of Doug’s life was service to God and love for people.  His charismatic nature allowed him to point many to Jesus, leading them to praise the Lord through joyful song.  His compassion and prayerful concern will be remembered by all those he encountered during his time of ministry.  He was an avid sports fan, who gave many years to coaching baseball and following the Braves; all while bleeding orange and white, Go Vols.

Doug loved his family well and is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Matt (Laura); daughter, Stacey (David) Gaffney; 5 grandchildren: Caleb, Morgan, and Jackson Hines, Ian and Grace Gaffney; niece Connie Hines Myatt, and nephew Mark Hines.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. 

A Memorial Service celebrating Doug’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 5th, at Liberty Church, 900 Hillcrest Pkwy., Dublin, GA, 31021.
