Dr. George Holden Evans, a physician, devoted family man, and humanitarian, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in Dublin, Georgia. Born on November 16, 1936, in Bartow, Florida, to the late Winifred Holden Evans, Dr. Evans lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Dr. Evans journey in medicine began after graduating from Florida State University, followed by the University of Miami Medical College. His passion for healing led him to a distinguished career in the United States Coast Guard medical services, where he served with honor and distinction. After his military service, he continued to practice medicine for over 30 years, touching the lives of countless individuals with his expertise and care.
In Dublin, Dr. Evans was a pillar of the community, known for his unwavering faith and active involvement in his church. His Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in his professional life and personal endeavors. Dr. Evans's love for his family was evident to all who knew him. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Garrett Evans of Dublin, and their three sons, George Evans Jr. (Jennifer) of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Geoffrey Evans of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Jay Evans (Aileen) of Forres, Scotland. His legacy continues through his grandsons, George Evans III (Meg), Garrett Evans, Nathan Evans (Catherine), Grant Evans, Erik Evans, Enzo Evans, and River Evans, who will remember him as a role model and inspiration.
Dr. Evans's interests extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid participant in annual mission trips to Jamaica, Honduras, and other countries, where he provided medical care and spiritual support to those in need. His selfless contributions to these missions reflected his deep-seated belief in the power of faith and service.
As we bid farewell to Dr. George Holden Evans, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His memory will be cherished, and his impact will be felt for generations to come. Dr. Evans's life was a testament to the profound difference one person can make in the world, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Pine Forest Methodist Church, Rev. Brett Maddox will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Evans’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
