Dusty Savant

Mr. Lawrence “Dusty” Savant, Jr., age 63, passed away peacefully Monday, July 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.

Mr. Savant was born March 5, 1959 in Hawkinsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Lawrence “Soapy” Savant, Sr. and Carlene Rouse Savant. He was a graduate of Hawkinsville High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Rentz Baptist Church and was an avid softball player, golfer and hunter. He retired from Progressive Rural Telephone Company after serving as a technician for many years. He loved his family tremendously but nothing compared to the love he had for his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cindy Savant; his daughter, Rebekkah Savant (Fred) Dixon; two sons, Josh (Chanlee) Savant and Jake (Ericka) Savant all of Rentz; six grandchildren, Colton May, Fynlee Savant, James Eric Savant, Harrison Savant, Eden Savant and coming October 2022, Obie Lawrence Dixon; two sisters, Donna Savant of Warrensburg, MO and Angie Savant (David) Barrentine of Cochran; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Rentz Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Rentz City Cemetery. Rev. Tom Vann, Rev. Jimmy Napier and Rev. Harrison Jones will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Richie Brown, Tracy Howard, John Ryan Alligood, Dale McCullough and Chris Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Fowler, Steve Brown, Dan Rowe, David Rowe, Darren Rowe, Eric Allen, Mike Faircloth, Tim Knight, Sammy Martin, Ronny Yeomans, Bill Hubbard, Mike Morton, Jeffrey Morton, Dubby Coffee, David Woods, Joe Thomas, David Barrentine and Chad Payne.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations, in memory of Dusty, be made to the Green Acres Golf & Recreation Club, c/o Irrigation Fund, 332 Rentz-Dexter Road, Dexter, Georgia 31019.
